Tree Trimming in PT and Gardiner

PUD contract crews have been trimming limbs and removing damaged trees near power lines along the right of way on Wilson Street between 53rd and 57th Streets in Port Townsend through December 31st. Work takes place from 8am to 4: 30pm.

Starting January 6th , contract tree trimming crews will be working in Gardiner. Storms in the early fall were especially hard on power lines in the forested Gardiner area. Work will begin at the intersection of Old Gardiner Road and SR 101, all PUD overhead lines north of that point will be trimmed. All trees under 8″ in  diameter in right of way will be removed. Crews will not be removing trees in yards planted by customers.

The goal of all PUD tree trimming is to improve reliability by reducing potential outages. Falling trees and tree limbs are the number one cause of outages in Jefferson County. Tree trimming and the removal of problem trees from right-of-ways are the PUD’s best tools for reducing outages caused by damage or interference on overhead powerlines.
