Take the Broadband Speed Test!
Jefferson County PUD is currently developing plans to build fiber to all unserved areas of the county. What do we mean by unserved? Unserved means that the internet service that comes into your house via some kind of a wire delivers the data at speeds less than 25mbps down and 3mbps up. How do we know what areas are served or not? Because you’ve told us, by taking speed tests in past surveys.
Right now we are trying to finalize grant plans to build to unserved homes in three areas:
- Greater Cape George and Discovery
- Marrowstone Island
- And Southeast Jefferson County from Chimacum to Ludlow to Coyle.
We need as many folks in those areas to take the speed test as possible. If you already have broadband speeds of 25/3 or more, we still want you to take the test. We need help to see who is served and who isn’t so we can draw accurate maps. While we have a general idea, we need help getting more precise. The federal and state grants will only allow for building to unserved areas.
Also- we need this info ASAP- so take it today and spread the word.
