April 18th is National Lineworker Appreciation Day
There’s a day for everything now. National Donut Day. National Pharmacist Day, National Beer Day, National Leif Erikson Day, National Book Day, National Introvert Appreciation Day (a relatively quiet affair). And National Lineworker Appreciation Day on April 18th 2021.
At the PUD, it’s hard to quantify how much we rely on our talented lineworkers to keep the lights on and the power flowing. We could not be in business without them. Our team heads out in the worst of weather, no matter the hour to deal with downed wires, broken poles, fallen trees, broken equipment, and all sorts of other issues. In widespread outages they go around the clock until the job is done, literally putting their bodies on the line to ensure the safety and comfort of our county’s citizens. They do this not only because they are paid to, but because this is their home. Many were raised here (or nearby).
So join us in acknowledging and thanking our talented crew on Sunday April 18th or on any day you see them out and about. Keep a safe distance of course, especially if they are working.
