Poplar Trimming along Sims Way

Trimming crews will be working in the space between Sims Way and the Boat Haven in Port Townsend throughout the week of November 14 as the transmission line corridor is cleared.

The 115,000-volt transmission line paralleling Sims Way was de-energized in 2021 due to concerns over tree-line contact with the poplar trees. The line acts as a backup power source for downtown Port Townsend area residents and businesses and is an essential part of our local grid during storm season.

Please be alert to crews near the roadway. Cones are in place to provide a safe distance between the work area and to ensure safe access for the trimming crew.
